Diamond Formation Plays Top Trig 25 Counter Play Youth Football

| |

One of my favorite Diamond Formation Plays in my top best categories is the Trig 25 Counter Play for youth kid football players to execute. This is a simple play for pee wee football players in a strong running formation the inverted Wishbone or Diamond formation which I call Trig mainly for my wrist coach name because its short and sweet. This is another post in the free youth football plays series. Enjoy!

On this play the offensive line is lined up in an even line with two tight ends. I personally prefer to run to the left, so I would have my power side OLM on the left. The QB will open toward the backside WB4 and then reverse pivot a tad to handoff the football to the TB who made a counter jab step backside. Both the FB3 and TB2 make a counter jab steps just enough to show LBs opposite flow then wham back with the Counter out the 5 Hole.

It looks like the blocking call is a JAW with the TE blocking down on the inside LB after a Chip block for any DL engaged with the OT. The FB will kick out anyone outside of the hole. And of course the QB and WB4 will run great fakes on the backside because a good fake is worth two blocks.

You can also run this same play with the QB keeping and the WB4 hitting the TE8 position and the QB and TE8 running a quick pass option play. Simple audible.

Here are some more Trig Diamond formation plays and a video. And here is a pass play from the Inverted Wishbone Formation in the free youth football plays series.

I use the Trig or Diamond Formation Plays to run as my counter formation and quick FB blast formation. We use Spin and Spin Drop action to quickly hand off to one of the up backs and the revers pivot. We will also use this as a max protect passing formation. If you have two big fullbacks and a tough tailback this would be a good formation for your youth football team.

I love talking about coaching youth football, Diamond Formation Plays and other unstoppable youth football formations and plays, especially in old football formations like the UBSW Offense and Yale Single Wing or Beast Offense. I also love to talk youth football defenses like the 62 Multi 8 Youth Football Defense based on the 62 Wide Tackle.
