Tenured OG Beast Coach Parker 30 Seasons Experience with the Beast Offense
Hey coaches! Coach Parker, OG Beast Coach here we are going to discus the Beast Offense today. Find more at coachparker.org and beastoffense.com. How are you guys doing today?
Can you believe it’s been 30 seasons since 1994 that I’ve been coaching and refining the system you know today as the Beast Offense in the PWBO playbook? We started this journey back in Plano, Texas, where my staff even won Coaching Staff of the Year in 1994. I’ve been writing about the Beast Offense for almost 20 years now—since way back in 2008—sharing my expertise with you guys.
Tenured OG Beast Coach Parker 30 Seasons Experience with the Beast Offense
Look, a lot of folks out there are calling everything “Beast” now. But I’m here to tell you, the main formation of the Beast Offense is the Yale Formation (or tight formation), and it has been the core since around 2006. This is recognizable because of that deliberately unbalanced offensive line. We run a “big right” unbalanced line, for example, with seven linemen: four to the strong side, two to the weak side, plus the center. You want all that power on one side.
What really makes the Yale formation distinct are those three blocking backs. They are positioned tightly within the tight end box, often close enough to touch the hips of the linemen to aid in the push. And listen up: in this tight variation, there is no wing. The offense runs with one wildcat back—the Beast Back—who can operate from shotgun (offset or direct), a pistol squat stance, or even under center.
I first developed this system in 1994 because I was struggling to teach my High School complex stuff like the Power I and Offset I Wing to my youth team. We had to simplify the blocking by moving those backs closer to the line of scrimmage. This evolved into multiple variations initially called loud, rowdy, monkey, tight, wide, and spread.
The Beast Offense, especially the Yale Formation, is simple, effective, and very powerful. I helped popularize the modern youth version through my blog posts and SEO focus, back when there were only a handful of resources available online. Now, this thing is dominating and successful at all levels—from youth football up to the high school, middle school, and professional ranks, including teams like the Memphis Showboats and those Philly great short-yardage “tush push” plays.
With over 1.5 million visitors to my websites / social media and close to 15,000 books sold, I’m the recognized expert on this system, folks.
