New Year Resolutions for 2021 & 2020 Reflections on the Suck
What are my New Year Resolutions for 2021 & 2020 Reflections? Let’s get into 2020 reflections so we can end on a good note. Well, at least more positive.
2020 Reflections
To say 2020 was a weird year just might be an understatement. Several friends have lost parents to COVID and my parents were in the hospital just a few weeks ago with COVID. My father is still not back to 100%. Pretty much this year has sucked. What do you think?
Since I am high risk with asthma and bronchitis I have tried to stay home and away from most people. I did coach youth football in Texas from August to October when it was hot. As it got cooler in October, a few parents on our team and others tested positive for COVID and I decided the virus was getting too close. The temperatures were dropping so the virus was coming back to Texas. And it did in force.
2020 started out pretty good. I stepped away from coaching on the field in 2019, and started writing a novel based on my 20+ years coaching youth sports. I finished a 50,000 word draft and started another novel about a western Sherlock Holmes crime detective duo. I hope to have at least one published in 2021. I had a ton of plans for CoachParker.org content, like I do for my New Year Resolutions for 2021.
In 2020, I also published a blocking ebook and 8 man football ebook at CoachParker.org. The 8 man playbook is based on the Beast Offense. The Jaws blocking book is a combination of blocking info from all my playbooks. I am actually very proud of the blocking ebook. It is a great value at only $7.
So, it looks like I did a lot of writing in 2020 which is great. I also got to see my wife more. She is a CPA and her office let her work from home 100% since late March. Having her home with me for the last 9 months has been great. Plus both our 20 year old boys are back home working and taking online classes. In a way that’s a plus to have this family time. Is this what it was like back before modern work schedules? Interesting….
Can we keep this up for New Year Resolutions for 2021?
As I stated, I was not going to coach on the field in 2020. I told my old coaching partner I would help him draft the Fall 2020 team since he was on vacation during the draft. I did that but could not help him interview the players due to COVID. I think the team’s draft suffered a little due to me not wanting to be around 200 kids. Although we did draft a great group of players and parents.
The team ended up 3rd in the Senior division for Fall and only losses were to the two Super Bowl teams. I did wind up coaching on the field for 3/4 of the time until the virus hit the team. I was sad to leave the team but I get pneumonia very easily.
Since early November 2020 we have cancelled our vacation plans, Thanksgiving and Christmas travel plans due to the virus. My parents got COVID at Thanksgiving along with everyone in my sisters family that went to my parents house. I am glad I stayed home and was a hermit. My father actually went into the hospital and is recovering at home now. The virus does not care who you are. Prayers for anyone dealing with the virus. Make this a priority New Year Resolutions for 2021.
I think everyone has a COVID story. Some have gone unscathed and others know the concerns voiced by the experts. I am overly cautious due to my health issues, but it seems like there are many who think it is a just like the flu. According to my father who never gets sick, he almost died and thought he was about to die. It is not just the flu. Please be understanding to those that need to be more cautious of the virus. Be a good neighbor for New Year Resolutions for 2021. Thanks.
I hope 2021 ends better than 2020. The vaccine is out and that should help stop the spread of the virus, so they say. It looks like the virus is mutating so let’s a pray it doesn’t get stronger but weaker. A weaker virus is at the top of my New Year Resolutions for 2021.
