Greyhound Team Pursuit Defensive Youth Football Pursuit Drill
This is a free youth football pursuit drill coaching video on the Greyhound Team Pursuit Drill; a pee wee football drill by Coach Parker. Great football pursuit drill to condition your players and also teach them proper pursuit angles when chasing a running back down the sidelines.
Your young football players get tired of running wind sprints at the end of practice, plus they say not to end practice with sprints since pretty much everyone I know hates wind sprints. No one wants to go home hating football practice. To hide the fact I am running wind sprints we use the Greyhound Team Pursuit Defensive Drill to spice up our conditioning at then end of practice and teach a very important football concept; pursuit angles. This is one of the best football pursuit drills.
Football Pursuit Drill

In this football pursuit drill you set up a defense on the 20 yard line or so and have two runners or “rabbits” on each sideline that will act as the chase runners or “rabbits” running down the sideline for the pursuing defense. A coach in the middle calls a cadence and snaps the ball to start the drill and will either throw the football left or right to one of the coaches standing by the sideline runners. We want the defense to read the initial snap of the football and rush and then read the football flow to each side and then run the pursuit angle. The defensive players do not tackle the “rabbit” but touch him as he runs down the sideline. We are looking for defensive players to set up at the proper angles all the way down the sideline.
I hope you enjoy this youth football pursuit drill. Take a look at the video.
