What youth football offense do you run Coach Parker?

what youth football offense do you run?

I get asked multiple times a week, “What youth football Offense do you run Coach Parker”

The youth football offense that I run is pulled from my two main offensive youth football playbooks the Power Wing Beast Offense and the Wildcat Multi Spread Offense. These two playbooks make up about 90% of the youth football plays and formations that I run from year to year since around 2006. Some of the plays, like the Beast Offense, are from as far back as 1994 my first season coaching youth football in Plano, Texas.

I run more than the Beast!!!

Most people think I only run the Beast Offense. I run multiple formations and offenses almost every season. I hardly ever just run the Beast as a stand-alone Offense. Only at younger ages 7u and below will I consider only the Beast formations and even then I will try to add the my Power I Pie or Off-set I formation into the mix if I can.

Multi Youth Football Offense & Defense

Both on Offense and Defense I like to use multiple formations and looks. That is why all my main playbooks are multiple; 62 Multi 8 Defense, Wildcat Multi Spread Offense and Power Wing Beast Offense; 1) Power 2) Wing 3) Beast, multi not just the Beast. I wrote each playbook so it would grow and evolve with your team from 5u to 14u.

At 8u and above I will run 2 to 3 formations and try to get to 12 to 18 plays or about 6 plays each formation. There have been some very inexperienced 7u/8u combined teams that were only able to run Beast but won a league Championship with only 8 Beast plays. You must tailor your Offense to your team.

My Youth Football Offense Formations

Youth football offense

Base – Power Wing Beast Offense (5u-14u)

  1. Beast – Yale Single Wing Variations
  2. Fat / Cake – SW Box Hybrid
  3. Pie – Power I Hybrid
  4. Angl – Off-Set I Wing
  5. Trig – Diamond / Inverted WB
  6. Speed – Double Wing / Wing-T Hybrid

From the Power Wing Beast formations above I will run 3 formations based on experience, talent and if I can shotgun snap consistently.

A quick note, I consider the Beast, Beast Wide and Beast Spread one formation not 3.

If I can shotgun snap, I will run the following:

  1. Beast
  2. Fat/Cake
  3. Speed (if I have the XP talent) or Angl

If I am unable to shotgun snap, I will run the following:

  1. Beast Under Center aka BUC
  2. PIE
  3. Angl

I will continue to play with the other formations during the season, to see if we can add to our arsenal of plays.

Advanced – Wildcat Multi Spread Offense (10u-14u)

  1. Texas – Spread / Wing-T / DW Hybrid
  2. Dallas / Fort Worth – Gun T / Wing-T Hybrid
  3. Fat/Cake – Spread Wildcat / SW
  4. Squad – Bunch Formations
  5. Jumbo – Beast Spread

If I have an older and or more experienced and advanced team, I will reach into my Wildcat Multi Spread Offense and pull out more Spread Wildcat Fat/Cake plays and install the Speed formation with the Spread version in Texas 2×2 and Gun T. I will also install our Squad Gang Bunch packages and expand on the Beast Spread Jumbo plays.

Our Senior 12u play sheet with an experienced and highly talented backfield has reached 60 plays or 120 left and right.  It is quite interesting what players will learn over 3 to 4 seasons together.
