Coaching Your Own Child in Youth Sports

Below is an article from Yahoo Sports’ writer Steve Hansen.  I did not think I would like this article as much as I did.

I thought this was a great youth sports coaching tip.

Suggestion: Ask a trusted an assistant coach or parent to be brutally honest with you and inform you if you are showing favoritism or are being too hard on your child. And don’t get defensive when the person says what you might not want to hear.

Let me know what you think, reply to the twitter post or to the blog post.

Thanks,

  1. This is a great suggestion, My Dad was my coach most of my life. I know many parents that can be too hard, or show favoritism. I did a post about what to look for on a simular topic “how to spot a bad coach”
